CORE VALUES

Why we do what we do

We desire to be an Acts 2 community of faith. We believe the first Christians in Acts 2:42-47 provide a vision of what it means to be a church that is pleasing to God, spiritually transformative, and attractive to the world.  They were radically committed to God, lovingly connected to one another, and sacrificially contributing whatever it took to bring the world to Christ, even at the cost of their lives because of what’s at stake — eternity.

COMMITTED = Closeness with God . . . “I make Him my core!”

We value being committed Christians, not just cultural Christians in name only who think and live no differently than anyone else, because our first priority and loyalty is to God. This means that we value:

Scripture
Provides the only divine, authoritative truth, and is the catalyst for life change.
[John 1:14; 2 Timothy 3:16-17].
Q: Are you taking in Scripture regularly, and aligning your values with it?

Prayer
Keeps us close to God, and is the foundation for effective ministry.
[Ephesians 6:18; Colossians 4:2-3]
Q: Is your relationship with God growing closer?

Worship
Puts God at the center of everything, and expresses our love for Him.
[John 4:24; James 5:13; 1 Corinthians 14:11, 26]
Q: Are you gathering weekly to worship, and honoring Him in everything you do?

CONNECTED = Community with Believers . . . “I love my church!”

We value being connected Christians because a spiritual dynamic happens when believers get together in the name of Jesus for mutual edification. This means that we value:

Hospitality
Welcomes all, especially those who are new, with friendly people and relaxed, appealing environments.
[1 Corinthians 9:22, 2 Corinthians 3:17, Romans 15:7]
Q: Are you putting yourself in the shoes of others to extend grace?

Community
Means mutually caring for one another and promoting spiritual development in loving relationships as a harmonious family.
[Acts 2:42-47, 4:32-35, 20:7, 20]
Q: Are you in a group or team where you can carry out the “one anothers,” and carrying around a bucket of water for “church fires”?

CONTRIBUTING = Impact with All . . . “I have a calling!”

We value contributing, not just being a consumer, because the local church has been entrusted with the cause of carrying the life-changing and community-transforming message of Jesus Christ to the world. This means that we value:

Evangelism
Is when we intentionally leverage our influence to introduce people to Christ.
[Acts 8:4; 2 Corinthians 5:19-20]
Q: In whom are you investing and inviting?

Serving
Is the norm as we build up the church, and make a difference in the community.
[Ephesians 4:11-13; 1 Peter 4:10, Romans 12:6-8]
Q: Where are you being the hands and feet of Jesus?

Generosity
Is giving of God’s resources to fund His work and meet needs.
Q: What are you sacrificing for Christ and His church?

Reproduction
Involves Christians reproducing Christians, leaders reproducing leaders, artists reproducing artists, and churches reproducing churches.
Q: Whom are you apprenticing?

Quality
Means doing your best to honor God and inspire others.
[Colossians 3:17, 3:23-24]
Q: Are you giving your best?
